Kate, of Kate Elizabeth Photography, had a vision of doing a vow renewal under the ancient oaks at Brazos Bend State Park right outside of Houston. The state park is over 4800 acres and is home to some of the oldest oak trees in the state of Texas as well as many species of animals. It’s a nature lover’s paradise and the perfect setting for our Vow Renewal.Being a huge fan of the great outdoors myself, I was all in when Kate commissioned me to be a part of such a unique photoshoot.I drew my inspiration from the oaks with their romantic spanish moss blowing in the breeze. Instantly the color palette of dusty blues, dove grey, antique white with touches of gold came to mind.
I reached out to several Houston vendors who were experts in their chosen fields and whose craft lends itself to southern charm. Our models for the photoshoot, Jessica and Clayton, are a real couple whose two year wedding anniversary fell around the same time as the shoot so they were thrilled when we asked them to participate!
A Fine Flourish worked her magic with the perfect calligraphy to capture the romantic and deep meaning of the vows. The vows were written to be deep and meaningful, words powerful enough to plant roots as deep as an oak in families and be passed down for generations.
The bride’s gown was custom made for the vow renewal in an elegant dusty blue color palette that perfectly complimented the theme of southern charm and the bride’s playful personality. When searching for a floral designer I knew I needed someone with a southern touch and who could put a unique spin on a natural color palette. College Park Flowers immediately came to mind. They did a tremendous job of combining spanish moss, and ivy with the sturdiness of air plants to perfectly compliment the pillars of a marriage – stability and romance. Buttercup designed the prettiest anniversary cake I have ever seen, personalizing it with a “C” for our sweet couple. The love was radiating off these two throughout our entire shoot. It was obvious that their marriage is just as strong as the oaks that surrounded them. Jessica and Clayton, thank you so much for participating in this special shoot and I wish you many more years of marital bliss.
